Fortunes in fortune cookies. Let's face it, they make life a whole lot interesting if you really believe in what they say (and especially when you add the words "in bed" after your fortune).
I know i've had my fill of crazy fortune cookie stories. Although I admit, some fortunes are really stupid. Like the one I got years back at a Panda Express, "You will order more orange chicken." Yeah that fortune was true, but what kind fortune is that? Of course i'm gonna order more orange chicken, isn't that inevitable? Oh and this other one that I just got right now, "A blonde from afar has something interesting for you [in bed lol]." A blonde from afar? Something interesting? Wtf? I am deeply puzzled by this odd fortune.
Anyways, one fortune cookie story worth mentioning began on November 20, 2007, when I got a fortune saying, "Remember three months from this date. Good things are in store for you." So I marked the date on the back of the fortune and hung it on my wall. I waited three long months for the day to come wondering what in the heck was in store for me. That day, February 20, 2008, I had a presentation to do for one of my film classes and that was that. Yeah a presentation. I don't think a school assignment would be something good in store for me. And other than that, nothing really great happened at school. So while I was driving back home thinking of how fortune cookies are ridiculous, little did I know that I was driving 85 mph. Also, it took a long time for me to realize that I just passed a police car. Woops. The police man gave me my ticket and I knew there and then that I had just lost some big bucks.
Ugh to you fortune cookie.
But then I really started thinking about what that fortune told me. I mean shit, I just got a ticket and will be charged at least $200 for this. This sucks! How can this be a good thing!?! Then it hit me. Maybe it's a good thing I got that ticket; maybe that ticket saved my life? Maybe if I drive at safer speeds from now on, I won't get into an accident or hurt anyone else? This thought seriously got me into believing what that fortune had said.
Or is it just some coincident that that incident happened 3 months after reading that fortune?
I'm a total believer of God and I know that He's out there (you don't have to agree with me on this, i'm just telling how I feel about this and a connection with the fortune). Perhaps God or a guardian angel caused that fortune cookie to come to me on that certain day so that they could try to teach me a lesson about my driving? Were they trying to send me a message through this fortune cookie that my speeding ticket was a good thing helping me realize to watch my speed so that I could avoid accidents? Whatever the reason is, coincident or divine intervention, silly fortune or message from God, this fortune cookie made a huge impact in my life causing me to be more cautious on the road so that I could stay alive.
I'm sure many of us have gone through these kind of "coincidental" or trippy events, which correspond to some of our fortunes, making us question whether or not these fortunes are really true. Got any worthy fortune cookie stories of your own? Comments section yo.
